Tea: A Mirror of Soul - Week Two

Mezzo-soprano Nancy Maultsby (left) makes her Opera Company debut as Lu.  Alongside baritone Haijing Fu as Seikyo, soprano Kelly Kaduce as Lan, and bass Kirk Eichelberger as the Emperor, she performs a ceremony and hands over The Book of Tea with the instructions that they must spread its wisdom.

Soprano Kelly Kaduce is Lan, who travels with her beloved Seikyo to find The Book of Tea.

Baritone Haijing Fu returns to the Academy of Music stage as Seikyo, a monk and former prince who recounts the story of Lan, the princess he loved, and their noble quest together for a single book – The Book of Tea

As Lan, soprano Kelly Kaduce, and Seikyo, baritone Haijing Fu, search for The Book of Tea, the love that they once shared is rekindled.

As Lan, soprano Kelly Kaduce, and Seikyo, baritone Haijing Fu, excitedly look through The Book of Tea, the Prince, tenor Roger Honeywell, bursts in and a deadly fight erupts between Seikyo and the Prince.

The Emperor, bass Kirk Eichelberger, and the Prince, tenor Roger Honeywell, mourn the death of Lan.
