Ailyn Pérez, who made her Opera Philadelphia debut in 2008 in Fidelio and has gone on to grace the Academy of Music stage in Carmen and Romeo & Juliet, has been hailed by the New York Times as “a beautiful woman who commands the stage” and “a major soprano,” and is increasingly in demand at the world’s leading opera houses and cultural capitals.

Stephen Costello, a native of Philadelphia and Academy of Vocal Arts graduate, made his Opera Philadelphia debut in 2008 in the East Coast Premiere of Cyrano and returned alongside Pérez in Romeo & Juliet in 2011.

This dynamic husband and wife duo are set to release their first CD together this summer—Ailyn Pérez and Stephen Costello: Love Duets—and they come home to celebrate Opera Philadelphia’s 40th Anniversary with excerpts from the CD on the Academy of Music stage.  Guests will experience this special recital from the unique perspective of the singer; from the stage, looking out into the beautiful Academy of Music.  The evening will truly be a journey from the stage to the stars.
