Opera Company of Philadelphia Celebrates First Annual National Opera Week 11-06-2009 From November 13th – 22nd, 2009, over 90 opera companies representing more than 30 states are participating in National Opera Week, organized by Opera America, the national service organization for opera, with the support of the National Endowment of the Arts. The Opera Company of Philadelphia is proud to participate in this celebration aimed at raising awareness and accessibility of this inventive, multi-media art form. Opera Week in Philadelphia launches with a Mayoral Proclamation of the celebration, and features a variety of opera-based activity throughout the week including Costume Exhibits at the King of Prussia Mall and the Shops at Liberty Place, fully-staged opera performances by both the Academy of Vocal Arts and Curtis Institute of Music, several online features and trivia questions, and more! As a spectacular grand finale, the Opera Company offers a FREE public recital featuring tenor William Burden and baritone Troy Cook.
