Gingerbread House Event at IKEA
Bring your family to this fun-filled event as we kick off preparations for Hansel and Gretel!
The Opera Company of Philadelphia partners with IKEA for a fun fall outing on Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. 
Bring the entire family to either Philadelphia area IKEA location as we build Hansel and Gretel-inspired Gingerbread Houses. Event highlights include a contest for best Gingerbread House, a storyteller, and chances to win tickets to see Hansel and Gretel! Registration is required.
Gingerbread House Kits, with all the materials you'll need to create your masterpiece, must be purchased at the event and will be sold for only $4.99! Additional items will be available for sale to help personalize your house.

Taste of Opera: Hansel and Gretel
Prepare for Hansel and Gretel with a complimentary piece of Angel Food Cake at A Taste of Opera on Sunday, November 11, 2007, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue. Author Francine Segan brings us a true "taste of opera" as she explores Great Food at the Opera - from food in opera, to delicious dishes inspired by opera and opera singers. 
Then David Fox from the University of Pennsylvania discusses the surprising complexities of this classic fairytale that was hailed as a masterpiece by composer Richard Strauss, who conducted the world premiere.
