The opera tells the story of a beautiful, shipwrecked Italian girl who uses her wit and charm to outsmart the ruler who captures her – while rescuing her true love.
Starring in the title role is beautiful mezzo-soprano sensation Ruxandra Donose as the cunning Isabella, alongside Lawrence Brownlee and buffo bass Kevin Glavin as the hilariously outwitted Bey of Algiers, Mustafà. Join us one hour before every performance of The Italian Girl in Algiers for our Opera Overtures lecture series. Now open to all ticket holders, these free 30-minute informal talks are held in the Academy of Music auditorium on the Parquet level, and will enhance your appreciation for what you are about to see on stage.
Remember, admittance to Opera Overtures is only available on the date of your printed ticket and is not transferable to another date. To attend, please enter on the Locust Street side of the Academy of Music.

Don’t Miss a Note! A Reminder About Late Seating
We want to remind all ticket holders that, at the request of our patrons, the Opera Company observes the national standard of a No Late Seating Policy. This means that if you arrive after the overture has begun, you will not be able to take your seats until an appropriate break in the action. So please plan your travel and parking carefully and arrive on the busy Avenue of the Arts with plenty of time! Take advantage of our subscriber discounts at local restaurants or attend our pre-opera lectures - we look forward to sharing every moment with you!
Friday performances begin promptly at 8:00pm, Sundays at 2:30pm, and Wednesdays at 7:30pm.
