Norma Opens This Friday - Do you have your tickets? Hear from Christine Goerke on Becoming Norma
Soprano Christine Goerke first wowed Philadelphia audiences with her comic brilliance as Rosalinde in the 2005 production of Die Fledermaus. She returned in 2007 to leave us laughing again, this time as Alice Ford in Falstaff. But this time, when the powerhouse soprano takes the Academy of Music stage, it will be in one of the most challenging dramatic roles the opera world has ever known. REMINDER: No Late Seating Policy and Pre-Opera Lectures
As we begin another opera production together, we'd like to remind all ticket holders that the Opera Company of Philadelphia upholds the national standard of "no late seating" once the overture has begun. Latecomers will be seated at the earliest possible break in the performance action, but this may not be until intermission.
Because the Avenue of the Arts has a thriving performance scene with many curtain times coinciding with one another, we ask you to carefully plan your travel, parking and dining to arrive with plenty of time to take your seat before curtain time. Visit our website for tips on travel planning!
And what better way to ensure you will be on time for the opera -- and to learn about the performance you are about to see -- than to attend one of our Opera Overtures pre-opera lectures. Held one hour prior to curtain and open to subscribers, these casual but informative talks are a great appetizer to the entree of grand opera!
Remember, admittance to Opera Overtures is only available for subscribers on the date printed on your ticket and is not transferable to another date. Please enter on the Locust Street side of the Academy of Music.
