"Robert Driver built a complex,
fast-moving comedy, full of visual jokes
and high energy."

The Opera Company of Philadelphia's Falstaff premiered on Wednesday evening to audience and critical acclaim -- and there are still five performances left to catch this delightful Verdi comedy!
Of star baritone Roberto de Candia, the Inquirer said he "... sang his way from his dream world to that final realization that the world is a running joke...." Leading lady Christine Goerke was praised for her "bold, expressive singing" as an "exuberant Alice." And of the music, kudos went to "Conductor Corrado Rovaris' pacing and quickness to find the dramatic detail [which] lifted the entire production." |
