This event is free and open to the public.
No reservations required. |
The Opera Company of Philadelphia invites you to a special glimpse behind the footlights at the Opera Company’s Sixth Annual Open House Tour. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be on the Academy of Music stage, or what a magnificent opera set looks like up-close, or wondered about the stage riggings for a 150-year-old theater, here's your chance to find out!
Join us for this amazingly popular event, and go onto the Academy stage and see the set for our production of Cyrano. The event is offered free of charge, so bring a friend or loved one, an opera enthusiast or arts lover, your child or grandchild. The tour is self-guided. We'll give you a map of the Academy with exhibit stations and their descriptions; you decide what you want to see and how to proceed through the Academy.
Now's your chance to:
- Meet General and Artistic Director Robert Driver
- Step into the Orchestra Pit
- Visit the costume shop
- Discuss casting and repertoire
- See the artist dressing rooms
- Meet with set and lighting designers
- Find out about the 2008-2009 Season
- and more!
Costume Director Richard St. Clair explains the art of costume design in the Academy of Music costume shop.
Pick up a guide map in the Academy of Music lobby for this self-guided tour and explore the opera house's grandeur as she celebrates her 150th Anniversary.
