Sounds of Learning™ 2013-2014 Registration
Registration is now open for Opera Philadelphia's 2013-2014 Sounds of Learning™ program.
The Opera will offer three productions in the Academy of Music at Broad and Locust Streets:
Verdi's Nabucco
Wednesday, September 25, 2013 | 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Verdi's classic opera retells a portion of the biblical story of Nebuchadnezzar. This early Verdi triumph features the glorious chorus "Va, pensiero" and some of the composer's most-inspired musical moments. Sung in Italian with English supertitles.
Golijov's Ainadamar - Grammy Award Winner!
Wednesday, February 5, 2014 | 6:15 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
This must-see opera retells the story of legendary and influential Spanish poet and dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca as told through the eyes of his muse, the actress Margarita Xirgu. This dramatic opera combines elements of flamenco with classic opera styles and features flamenco dancing and singing, guitars and an expanded percussion section in the orchestra for an exhilarating effect. Sung in Spanish with English Supertitles and features an all-Spanish cast.
Mozart's Don Giovanni
Wednesday, April 23, 2014 | 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
This Mozart classic tells the story of the woman-loving lothario, Don Giovanni. Inspired by the real-life conquests of Casanova, this opera features stunning period costumes and a cast of the most exciting up and coming singers, many of whom are graduates of the Curtis Institute of Music or the Academy of Vocal Arts. Sung in Italian with English Supertitles. Don Giovanni is currently sold out and available on waitlist capacity only.
