Comprimario Corps of Volunteers

Wikipedia defines comprimario as "a supporting role in an opera." Opera volunteers play supporting roles, too, albeit off stage in our administrative offices, at rehearsals, or from their homes. (The only exceptions are supernumeraries, who play small, non-singing roles in our productions. Visit www.phillysuper.com or www.theoperastage2.com for more information.)

Volunteers are an essential part of the Opera Company of Philadelphia and play a vital role by helping to increase financial support, reducing costs, and providing skilled assistance.

Led by a growing group of volunteer advisors, COMPRIMARIO is always looking for new members - opera devotees who want to work with OCP staff on furthering the company's mission of artistic excellence in all areas of production and of reaching new and under-served audiences, at all age levels and socio-economic backgrounds, through its award-winning education and community outreach programs.

Opportunities for volunteer service with OCP vary throughout the year, and from season to season. Appropriate training is given for agreed-upon assignments.
