A well rounded education never sounded so good!
Let your students experience opera – the one genre that brings all the arts together for a magical experience: music, drama, dance, art, and more.
Launched in 1991 in collaboration with the School District of Philadelphia, Opera Philadelphia’s Sounds of Learning™ program addresses the growing gap in arts education and access in the Greater Philadelphia region. Now in its third decade, the program has reached nearly 150,000 students in ten counties through an intensive, in-school, literacy-based music education program that includes opportunities to see a live opera performance
Grades 5-12 Signature Program An inspiring lesson, a lifetime of inspiration
Opera is used as a vehicle to teach lessons across the curriculum. Designed for students in grades 5–12, the program introduces opera through lessons from music and language arts, to social studies, foreign languages, and more. The program culminates with students attending a free dress rehearsal at the Academy of Music.
Grades K-12 Classroom Program One lyrical lesson could change a student’s life
For a broader approach to opera education, an Opera Teaching Artist can visit your school and lead one of five interactive lessons which connect the opera to music, language arts, biology and anatomy, mathematics, creative writing, critical thinking and analysis, storytelling, and more! These free classroom programs are open to grades K-12 and last approximately 45 minutes.
Grades 9-12 Maestro Program Expert lessons from the City’s finest
