Soldier Songs

Music & Libretto by David T. Little

Composer and librettist David T. Little, Opera Philadelphia's Composer in Residence from 2014-2016, premiered Soldier Songs in 2011. Based on interviews with veterans of five wars, the piece combines elements of theater, opera, rock-infused concert music, and animation to explore the perceptions versus the realities of the Soldier, the exploration of loss and exploitation of innocence, and the difficulty of expressing the truth of war. In a new production imagined for the screen, baritone Johnathan McCullough embodies the Soldier.

Pay-per-view option: Rent Soldier Songs for seven days for $25! Available for rent starting at the date and time of its premiere. Also available on a Season Pass with unlimited access until May 31, 2021.
