Opera Philadelphia

The Future of the Organ: Performance and Panel Discussion

Glimpse into the future of the historic pipe organ with Philadelphia’s artistic and sacred communities in a two-part program.

As prelude, a concert of choral works will be performed by members of the Opera Philadelphia Chorus, under the direction of Elizabeth Braden and with Meghan Meloy Ness on pipe organ. The concert will be livestreamed into the Athenaeum from Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church.

Braden and Ness will then join composer Melissa Dunphy at the Athenaeum for an in-person panel discussion moderated by Joshua Castaño of Partners for Sacred Places.

Attendees are invited to extend their experience before or after the event by visiting the Athenaeum’s Inspired Sound gallery exhibition or by streaming the free performance of Organ Stops on the Opera Philadelphia Channel. Both programs are offered in partnership with Partners for Sacred Places.

The Athenaeum of Philadelphia is located at 219 South 6th Street off Washington Square Park.
