Longtime friends and opera stars, bass–baritone Eric Owens and bass Morris Robinson, come together for a joint recital at Owens’ alma mater, Central High School. Before they take on Verdi’s monumental Don Carlo in April, they join collaborative pianist Laura Ward for an evening of art song, opera arias, and spirituals. Called “one of the greatest bass-baritones in the world” by Bloomberg News, Owens has a strong Philadelphia musical pedigree, having graduated from Central High School and studied at Settlement Music School, Temple University, and the Curtis Institute of Music. Robinson’s performances have been called “stentorian” and “superb” by The New York Times. Their friendship and musical prowess take center stage at what promises to be a memorable recital experience.
