Midsummer singer wins Met Competition

Tenor Miles Mykkanen, who played Flute in February's A Midsummer Night's Dream, was one of five winners, out of nine finalists, of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions on March 31. Congratulations, Miles!

Midsummer artists profiled in Musical America

Musical America profiled bass Patrick Guetti and mezzo-soprano Siena Licht Miller. Guetti is an Academy of Vocal Arts alum who appeared in A Midsummer Night's Dream in February as Snug and is one of two singers representing the United States in the 2019 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, and Miller is a student at the Curtis Institute of Music and an Opera Philadelphia Emerging Artist.

See Opera Philadelphia's Teen Voices of the City Ensemble in a free one-hour concert, "Unity in Diversity," on Wednesday, April 10. The concert will explore identity both individual and communal through art, dance, music, and spoken word.
