Art is what you can get away with

By Opera Philadelphia

Selfies, soup cans, Marilyns and glitter collided with fame, lust, bananas and 15 minutes of fame in Old City Philadelphia last month, as The Bearded Ladies and Opera Philadelphia gathered for two weeks to workshop ANDY: A Popera.  The cabaret/opera mashup is scheduled to make its World Premiere in September as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and the workshop at Christ Church Neighborhood House was the first opportunity for director John Jarboe to gather his cast of opera singers, cabaret performers, designers, dramaturges, and musicians to work with the creations of composers Dan Visconti and Heath Allen. The group of artists collaborated to devise the Popera, informed by Warhol’s philosophies:  “In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes” and “Art is what you can get away with.”

This will end in silver!
