Discovering the jobs behind the scenes
By Opera Philadelphia
Lights, scenery, costumes, make-up – there are plenty of non-performance opportunities in the performing arts. Opera Philadelphia's Career Day gives high school students a chance to learn about those exciting career options.
This free two-hour program gives students firsthand knowledge about audio visual, carpentry, costumes, dressers, electrical, rigging, props, ushers, and wigs and make-up. Union and industry professionals give mini-presentations at stations, detailing how these jobs work in theater, motion picture and television, exhibitions, concerts, and construction shops that support the entertainment industry.
