Building Festival O23: Photos from the Scene Shop

By Opera Philadelphia

As the countdown to Festival O23 begins, the productions are already coming to life at Opera Philadelphia’s scene shop.

Shop crew have been hard at work building the set for 10 Days in a Madhouse, which portrays the confounding labyrinth that was Blackwell’s Asylum. Designed by Andrew Lieberman, the 12-foot-tall cylinder bears a weighty presence down on performers as they roam through the tunnels underneath the cylinder.

Set pieces for Simon Boccanegra have also arrived in the shop, ready to be assembled on stage.

See these gorgeous sets in action at the Festival from September 21 to October 1.
