Opera Philadelphia

Soldier Songs at the Independence Seaport Museum

Join Johnathan McCullough, the director and star of David T. Little's Soldier Songs on the Opera Philadelphia Channel, and members of the Warrior Writers community for a reflection on the making of the film and how it can shed light on the impact that war has on military service members

This program is offered as part of the Independence Seaport Museum's Brown Bag FILM Club which commemorates the Centennial Anniversary of the American Unknown Soldier's difficult journey home aboard Cruiser OLYMPIA in World War I. Through monthly programs, this series attempts to reflect on this history by examining a wide range of difficult journeys home and considering what "home" means to individuals throughout the year.

This online conversation will also feature behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of Soldier Songs, which took place in Chester County, Pennsylvania, by the site of the American Revolution's Battle of Brandywine in 1777.

Viewing the film in advance is encouraged, but isn't required for participation.
